Before you decide
What if she dies part-way through the year?
Everything you recorded stays exactly where it is. Her page becomes a remembrance — the same stories and recipes, in a gentler tone, with birthdays marked as days of remembrance rather than notifications to celebrate. A remembrance archive is never deleted for non-payment.
What happens if I cancel?
You keep the whole archive to read, play and download — you just can't add anything new. Transcripts and translations are removed 30 days after a plan ends, and your original videos, photos and recipes 60 days after (a year on Heirloom). You get repeated reminders before either, and reactivating stops the clock.
Who can see this?
Only the family you invite. A workspace is private by default, originals live in encrypted storage behind short-lived signed links — never a public URL — and there are no advertising or tracking cookies. If we ever need to open your account to help you, it's time-limited, read-only unless you ask otherwise, and it appears in your own activity log.
Is the AI reading my family's stories?
Only the specific recording or passage being transcribed or translated is sent to a provider, never your whole workspace, and results come back into your archive rather than being kept by them. Where a provider offers it, we choose processing that isn't used to train models. We never synthesise anyone's voice.
Can I get my data out?
Download every original recording any time while your plan is active — and for 60 days after it ends. It's a .zip of your original videos, photos and recipes — no export request, no waiting. Family trees import and export as GEDCOM, the standard genealogy format, so your tree isn't locked in here either.
What if you go out of business?
You get 90 days' notice, a reminder to download everything, and we publish the viewer under an open licence so the archive stays readable without us. We've written down exactly what we'd do — see the link below.
